• Every time you use your housing, give it a thorough visual inspection. Look for any dings, scratches, cracks, etc. that could have happened without your knowledge.
• PORT: How does your port look? How did it perform the last time you went out? If there is just some dried up salt or dust on your port, no worries… you can rinse it off when you get in the ocean. But, if your port is scratched or oily from sunscreen or wax, it may be time to clean it using the Plastic Polish. Depending on the size of the scratch, decide whether you need to use the #1 or the #2 Plastic Polish. Use the #1 for lighter scratches, and #2 for deeper scratches, followed by the #1. Follow the instructions on the back of the bottle. Make sure to use a VERY clean and VERY soft cotton cloth to polish your port.
• O-RINGS: In order for your housing to work properly and keep water out, the o-rings must be clean and properly lubricated. Every time you use your housing, make sure the controls are sliding smoothly, and that the main o-ring is well lubricated. If either the control shaft, or the o-ring doesn’t seem slippery enough, apply a small amount of the silicone lubricant the necessary area, but only use enough to make the o-ring slippery again. Don’t over lubricate! Also, depending on your typical shooting situation, you may find it necessary to occasionally remove the o-ring, clean it well, clean out the o-ring groove of all sand, dust and grime, and re-lubricate it.
